It is my goal, in everything I make, to maximize the availability of source code. Sometimes, there is wiggle room in the legal gray areas; we’re on like, the fourth version of the GPL, yeah? Though it’s labeled the “AGPLv3”, the lineage there is confusing. If you’re asking the interpretation I had in mind when writing something, it’s generally:

  • Follow the terms of the license
  • Don’t come up with a clever workaround to the license
  • If some legal tomfoolery comes up that prevents the terms of the license from applying in a super specific sci-fi scenario, like AI or whatever, follow the spirit of the license, which should quite frankly be obvious.
  • If you still can’t figure it out and force me into an ultimatum, I’ll prefer the choice that keeps the source as open as possible.
