The game is extremely simple, and plays pretty much exactly as advertised. It has a few nice gimmicks in the single-player campaign which were mildly interesting, but its core value is in the multiplayer experience. There, it properly excels as perhaps the most fun first person shooter I've ever played. It's aged very well since its release and even outperforms subsequent titles published by the same developer. I strongly recommend this to anybody who is interested in trying or playing more first person shooters- although if you don't like them to begin with, this game isn't so revolutionary as to change that. It's still heavily influenced by tropes of the genre, preferring to refine on them rather than branch out and try something fundamentally new.
