Fantastic game with an astounding scope. Despite how kitchen sink the experience feels in terms of arbitrary features and complexity added in, it is somehow still well-tuned. One of the most notable differences between this and other similar base/factory building games is that I wouldn't consider it a sandbox *nor* a puzzle game; rather, I think of Mindustry as a real time strategy.
The singleplayer campaign is perfectly adequate and can produce quite a bit of enjoyment, although it is a touch on the "too easy" side. So far as I've presently seen, I have not been impressed by the multiplayer, although there is definitely a lot of potential in this regard and the community has worked diligently to host a variety of serves with interesting plugins and game-modes. I feel the game would strongly benefit from centralized multiplayer servers, gamemodes, and matchmaking.
One particularly notable thing I like about Mindustry is that it is open source. While I am not particularly keen to work in Java, it is nevertheless exciting to see high quality open source software on the market.
