Short, sweet, and cute. Bad North is very pleasant to look at, although the gaudy "hiyas" and excessive bloodsplatter gets a little tiring. I was very happy with the way the islands were generated to look so pretty and dynamic.

The tactical level of the game was done pretty well. The pacing is a little bit off, with lots of idle time and low-consequence interactions, but it was overall fairly satisfying and could produce some high-intensity exhillerating situations sometimes.

The higher level strategic progression "per-run" was fairly stressful. It felt prohibative towards risk-taking and required very specific strategies and game knowledge to execute to perfection (as defined by the Folk Hero achievement). That being said, lower difficulties likely address this to a certain extent, but I think the game would be best if it ditched the strategic layer entirely and just focused on having the player run through a series of diverse and exciting islands with diverse and exciting units.
