While Thinking in Number tries to present a philosophical take on life through the frameworks of mathematics, it ultimately fails to provide anything other than a novelty concept which doesn’t hold water. Beyond a little shock value related to how math concepts can be applied in a philosophical sense, none of the essays in this collection are able to present anything profound or even remotely interesting. Perhaps this is the point of the collection, but if that is the case then there are probably better things to do with your time. Overall I think that Thinking in Numbers is reflective of the poor status of the intersection between mathematics and the rest of philosophy in modern society.
