The Hunger Games managed to take off in my cultural domain's collective consciousness a while ago which got me very excited about the idea of a battle royal for all of the wrong reasons. When I was fascinated with the hunger games, I wasn't considering it in terms of a dystopia (view spoiler), but as a really cool and fun violence-fueled arena. (view spoiler) Overall, the Hunger Games is written ineffectively and isn't able to provide a substantial plot or themes. It is permeated by poor writing (view spoiler) which is best passed up for other books.
