Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy tries to be a refined sort of sarcastic, science fiction branded comedy, and ultimately fails to amuse. There are some funny jokes scattered here and there, but overall it just wasn't something I found especially hilarious. It also doesn't really have much interesting or meaningful to say about the science fiction genre; at times it felt as if the humor without point.
This book is notable for having a very large impact on popular culture, especially among middle-aged to older demographics. It can as such be useful to read from a cultural perspective, but I wouldn't approach it for the sole sake of having fun.
