All and all, the crucible did a better job criticizing puritanism than I would have expected from a play. Still, there are a lot of drawn out details and elements which made it very hard to sit through. The entirety of the play doesn't portray any interesting conflicts and comes out with a sour, "witch hunting and hysteria is bad" motif which doesn't really command attention.
