It's very hard for me to keep track of which of Arthur Conan Doyle's volumes correspond to which stories and vice versa, but this compendium was my main exposure to his written works. It is an excellent entry point for those who are unsure how to approach his writings.
The quality of mysteries produced are generally of a moderate to high quality and are executed in a fairly cute way. Some of the persistent story elements which are introduced can be kind of tiresome, and the stories are all very old to the point of being a bit inaccessible sometimes, but these aren't severe enough to be a reason to avoid the collection.
