A cumulation of what not to do when writing, Darkhouse evoked a visceral emotional disgust in me for all of the wrong reasons. It was outside of my general reading habits, and I was curious to see how my interests with horror might intersect the world of romance writing. (view spoiler) The book makes perpetual failed attempts at humor, which are uncomfortable to sit through. For fans of the horror genre, there are better books out there which are able to address more fundamental and interesting questions about life. For fans of romance, well, the annoying and frustrating characters in this story will be unlikely to fulfill what you are looking for. Avoid Darkhouse if possible.
