I'm very passionate about how much I almost love Crime and Punishment. The premise in of itself is a lot of fun to toy with and there are quite a few fun characters. There is something immensely satisfying about watching Raskolnikov's creative brand of struggles.
Sadly, Crime and Punishment is heavily bloated with subplots imported from some of Dostoyevsky's other works, and a lot of the more interesting points the book makes (view spoiler) Crime and Punishment is also a slow burner compared to its net available interesting content. Since its publication, the ideas expressed within it have been progressively more commonly portrayed in media, removing some of the distinct uniqueness of his work for a modern audience.
