A lot of the more interesting things about this booked were drowned by a somewhat uninteresting main character with rather petty character depth. The central magical mechanics of this book are fun to dive into, and the whole parallel worlds system was laid out a lot better than is typical, and (view spoiler) was kind of cute. Not an excellent use of time to read unless desperate.
