I’m really glad about the latest good financial news!

Weirdly, the published financials make me feel less anxious about the platform, because like… These are totally attainable, realistic goals. I’ve had accounts on other platforms that I knew vaguely probably weren’t sustainable but kept hush hush about it, then… Boom. One day gone.

The hard-line stance on open-source is a bit odd to me. If the team needs to slim and start taking open-source contributors, I think it’d be just fine to use remaining revenue on content moderation, hosting, paying back loans, pull request reviews (yay), and regular development. Like, I know there’s this big “ethics” sword of Damocles, but I don’t really think accepting volunteer labor while you’re getting paid is a sin or anything like that.

More importantly, I don’t think it’d push anyone away from the site. Worst case, some jaded developers might just not contribute.

‘Course, hopefully it won’t come to that.
