Tragedy Looper fulfills a very specific appeal, incorporating a unique style of communication and deduction into the core of its gameplay. The core mechanics hinge off of using deductive reasoning to either infer the play of the opposing team or to try to guide the other team into playing a mistake. The game is asymmetrical: One team of 1-3 players plays the game over iterations and only needs to win once, while the other team has access to dramatically more information but must win each iteration. Between iterations, the 1-3 player team will be able to learn more about the board state based on the actions of their opponent.
Tragedy Looper is a very high commitment game and requires a lot of active memory, so I added a set of pens and notepads to the base set. Additionally, the game is not extremely well refined, yet nevertheless remains the best execution of its style to date.
