Spirit Island is a very densely feature-packed cooperative game which fully captures attention throughout the course of play. The aesthetic is very pleasant, as it's really nice to go on a little bit of war against European colonialists for a change! The learning curve is somewhat steep but by no means insurmountable, and in general there is a lot of mechanical support for new players who are learning to develop their own strategies. The replay-ability of Spirit Island is also commendable, simply on account of the fact that the core mechanics of the game can be approached from a wide variety of perspectives and still produce a satisfying decision making process. This will remain one of my favorite games of all time for the foreseeable future.
