Mansions of Madness: Second Edition

There comes a certain point where a board game relies to heavily on a gimmick and consequentially collapses in upon itself which I think Mansions of Madness easily passed. Operating the game using an app was really clunky and confusing, and the repeated attempts to be cute or flavorful left a bad taste in my mouth as we all struggled to read the tiny text on the combat screen displayed upon the phone. The most interesting part of the game for me were the alternate victory conditions distributed by the insanity cards, but even that felt like a weird tacked on mechanic. Overall there are much more interested cooperative board games, and if you are investigating Mansions of Madness in particular I would recommend perhaps looking through video games instead.
