Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition)

Rating: 3.3/10

Descent was something I really liked the idea of to begin with but gradually eroded my patience until I had no remaining tolerance for its bland strategy and mockery of a campaign system. Descent presents some of the most inane grid-based combat that I've ever seen. The inter-session persistence is pointless and serves as an inertia-based excuse for stringing together the scenarios as a series of repetitive, bland mechanical processes. At the very least, the miniatures are extremely pretty, and the game is extremely satisfying from a visual and tactile standpoint, especially in its iconography.
