A very weird mix of a party game and a strategic board control game. This mix does more harm than good mechanically, making it very easy for tensions to inflame as a lot of the players butt heads with each other over the distinction between arbitrary jokes and strategic bullying, leading to an aggressive play experience for certain sorts of people. Nevertheless, played in the right setting with the right mindset, Catan is a ton of fun. The cross table banter, fast pace, and easy to learn rules make come together for a hilarious and fun time.
