Captain Sonar is a game I was very enthusiastic about, especially regarding the idea of having fast paced, real-time, and communication oriented game-play. As it turned out though, the real-time mode of Captain Sonar fell flat on its face due to chunkiness, obscure, difficult to remember rules, and general provocations of excessive, pointless interpersonal aggression. Even the turn-based mode can provoke some general atmospheric hostility and frustration, on top of being a mediocre "Battleship" expansion by itself.
